According to Tinubu Atiku is a pathological liar who offered to make me his vice president of Action Congress in 2007
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is said by APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu to have a “pathological” tendency for lying.
On Saturday, Tinubu responded to a claim made by Abubakar on the choice of a vice presidential candidate for the Action Congress (AC) in 2007.
The PDP presidential contender stated in an interview aired by ARISE TV on Friday that he declined Tinubu’s offer to be his running mate in 2007 in order to avoid running on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
In a statement sent by his media adviser, Tunde Rahman, the APC candidate responded by claiming that the accusation was untrue and that Abubakar was the one who had made the vice presidential nomination offer to him.
“We are heartbroken to see a man of his caliber become detached from reality. Atiku is so consumed by his desire for office that he will tell any kind of lie if he believes it will help him win just one vote. Atiku might aspire to the presidency. However, all he has demonstrated is his sick nature, according to Tinubu.
“Any moral compass he may have had is gone. Atiku lied during a television interview on July 22 when he said that he did not choose Tinubu as his running mate for the Action Congress ticket in 2007 because he did not want a Muslim to be his running mate.
Because they needed to oppose the dictatorial plans that then-President Obasanjo and the PDP had for Nigeria’s democracy, the AC’s genuine founders provided Atiku the party’s flag.
“At that time, Obasanjo had abruptly removed Atiku from the PDP, if not from the PDP altogether. To combat the one-party state Obasanjo had in mind, we had to marshal all of our resources. Atiku was merely a beneficiary of this shared responsibility to fend off the PDP’s attack on multi-party democracy.
“I feel bad for poor Atiku. His relationship with the truth and an honest portrayal of the past has been overshadowed by his love of his own ambition. He was not informed when the AC was established. We provided him with the AC platform for the 2007 election as a show of support after President Obasanjo effectively exiled him from the PDP.
“Let me be clear: In 2007, Atiku offered to make me his running mate. Let me add that my religious beliefs have not changed. I was a Muslim when he made the job offer to me, and I think he was aware of this at the time.
“Religion or Atiku’s sensitivity to it had nothing to do with his calculations and dishonesty. His actions are entirely a result of what we learned about his lack of moral fiber and interest in mystery.
