Auto Crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Leaves Four Dead and Six Hurt


Yesterday, a car accident near the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway claimed the lives of about four individuals and injured another six.

A Mazda bus and a truck were reportedly involved in the early-morning collision on the Iperu bridge, close to Ogere in Ogun State.

The collision happened about 6:25 in the morning, according to Mr. Ahmed Umar, the FRSC’s Ogun State Sector Commander, who verified the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

“The accident included an unregistered truck and a Mazda bus with the registration number YYY 412 XB,” he stated.

Due to a minor flaw in the truck, the Mazda bus driver struck the moving truck from behind while traveling at a high rate of speed.

“The truck’s rear lights, which are intended to alert oncoming traffic, were not working.

“Among the dead was a young boy. The deceased have been deposited at the FOS Morgue in Ipara, while the injured were transferred to the Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical assistance.

Before beginning any journey, Umar recommended drivers to check that everything in their car is in functioning order and warned them about speeding.

He expressed sympathy to the victims’ families and told them to get in touch with the FRSC office in Ogere for more details about the collision.
