Coffin of the Queen is lowered into St. George’s Chapel’s Royal Vault
On Monday, the Queen’s casket was lowered into the Royal Vault of St. George’s Chapel.
On Monday night, as the casket was lowered, the Dean of Windsor chanted Psalm 103.
“Go forth upon thy trip from this earth, O Christian soul,” is a traditional verse from the psalm.
He added a prayer to the praise in which he asked God’s mercy for the departed.
The Sovereign Piper played the lament “A Salute to the Royal Fendersmith” as he made his way towards the deanery at the conclusion of the service from the doorway between the chapel and the dean’s cloister.
The ceremony was then blessed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, followed by the assembly singing the national song.
