Did Tinubu’s daughter really ask him to give up his presidential ambitions as claimed?
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the daughter of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, allegedly produced a video telling him to give up on campaigning for government because he is ineligible, according to a now-viral Twitter post.
The message reads:
“UNBELIEVABLE (video) Funmilayo Tinubu, an officialABAT, rejects her father’s eagerness to win the presidency. claims that, at this crucial time, he is unfit to lead Nigeria.
Throughout the video, the woman repeatedly referred to Tinubu as her father to emphasize her claims.
Daily Trust’s investigations showed that the post’s caption is deceptive.
Recently, Twitter users retweeted the footage that was initially posted on Instagram.
Adetoun Onajobi, an activist and Instagram influencer, is the writer of the original post, and she published the video on her account’s official Instagram page (justadetoun) in July.
According to Daily Trust, she referred to Asiwaju Tinubu as her “father” in the video metaphorically because she respects him and values the bond he shares with her husband.
Adetoun had earlier stated in an interview on a program called Rubbin’ Minds that “Tinubu is like a father to me but I will never endorse him” before the footage became online.
The video is false and was not produced by any of Tinubu’s biological children, Daily Trust can reveal.
