Drama as police detain a man known for stealing televisions from hotels


The Edo State Police Command’s agents have detained Ahmed Ibrahim, a guy who specializes in robbing televisions from the state’s hotels.

It was learned that the suspect would reserve hotel rooms, and when it came time to go, he would take the television from the rooms.

Additionally, it was discovered that the suspect had stolen the televisions from two additional hotels. While attempting to transport the stolen goods to Abuja for sales, he was detained with them.

According to SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, the spokesperson for the Edo State Command, the suspect was detained on July 14 for burglary and theft.

He claimed that on July 13, Mr. Adekunle Olalekun, the manager of the Mindcast Hotel in Ekpoma, Edo State, filed a complaint with the Command alleging that Ibrahim, 24, had reserved three rooms at the hotel.

“Shortly after making the reservations, Ibrahim checked out of the hotel unobserved with the luggage he had brought in; unbeknownst to them, the suspect had packed three television sets into the three rooms he had reserved.”

According to the PPRO, the suspect was located at a Hausa livestock market in Ekpoma through covert investigation and intelligence collection, where he was apprehended.

Nwanbuzor claimed that following the suspect’s arrest, it was found that the plasma television sets had been carefully packed by the suspect in preparation for his intended journey to Abuja for sale.

According to Daily Trust, he claimed that the suspect had admitted to taking six further plasma televisions from two different hotels in addition to the three plasma televisions from the hotel.

He promised that the suspect would be presented in court shortly.
