Ebonyi State Police Recovers Kidnapped 4-Year-Old
A 4-year-old kid named Testimony was rescued by the Ebonyi State Police command on Thursday after being sold last year to an unnamed man in Enugu State.
According to information obtained by pressloaded, the victim was taken from her mother, Theresa Nweke, who resides in the Omuma community of Rivers State’s Etche Local Government.
As reported by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu, the culprit, one Precious, and her accomplice who kidnapped the boy were apprehended and confessed to the crime, according to the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP. Aliyu Garba.
As said by Garba:
“We displayed a criminal organization that targets minors for abduction, theft, and sale. One of them happens to be a young child from Port Harcourt who goes by the name Testimony and was taken.
“The suspect stated that her mother is a nurse, but we have spoken with the mother of this young boy and she has established beyond a reasonable doubt that she is the child’s biological mother, therefore we have given the child to her,” the officer said.
Theresa Nweke, the boy’s mother, responded by claiming that the suspects were her neighbors in the same compound, whom she had left the infant with while she went to work.
She added that Precious, the suspect, kidnapped the boy and then demanded N1.5 million in ransom, which she eventually paid with N50,000, but they refused to return the boy to her.
“Precious phoned me on the phone and said they had traveled. When I questioned about my child, she said she had gone with him and that if I needed him, I should bring N1.5 million, and if I didn’t, I could forget about him.
A few days later, they called and inquired about my financial situation. I informed them that I only had 50,000 naira, and after receiving their account information, I transferred the money.
