Man City refuses to accept the runners-up medals according to the Community Shield
Manchester City, the Community Shield runner-up, declined to accept their losers’ medals after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez scored goals to help Jurgen Klopp’s team win the customary curtain-raiser at the King Power Stadium.
The first goal for City by Julian Alvarez was merely a consolation.
ITV Sport claims that the losing team was eligible for runners-up medals, but City chose not to claim their awards.
Instead, Liverpool won the Community Shield as Pep Guardiola’s team applauded them before leaving down the King Power tunnel.
It is unknown if they received medals when they left the stadium or if they were just given to the club.
