Munachi 17 was found dead in Ebonyi State
Munachi Obasi-Igwe, 17, of the Onicha Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, was found dead in a bush on the Agbabor-Isu track road.
Mr. Obasi Igwe, a family member of the deceased, claimed that she was a Senior Secondary 1 student.
Igwe stated that the girl’s murder was suspected to have occurred on Monday night.
She was returning to the Onicha community of Amakporo, her ancestral home.
“On Monday, while returning to Amakporo from our neighboring community of Agbabor Isu, she was brutally murdered.
The family and I need justice. The security services ought to assist us. We are unsure of the exact crime that caused her death.
She was an SS 1 student who was just 17 years old. Justice is necessary. Igwe said that the army and police should work together to find the people who committed the evil deed.
When contacted, SP Chris Anyanwu, spokesman for the Ebonyi Police Command, stated that the command was aware of the event.
“We know about the situation. The command has opened an inquiry into the situation. I’m confident that the offenders will be prosecuted,” he stated.
According to Mr. Uchenna Orji, the state’s commissioner for information, there is currently no proof connecting the death to herdsmen.
According to the Commissioner, there are no herdsmen living nearby.
According to Orji, the dead was allegedly ambushed by local criminals as she was returning from a neighboring village.
“We denounce the repulsive incident. Unknown crooks are responsible for the sad tragedy, he said.
