Recent elections for governor demonstrate my dedication to reliable polls
According to President Muhammadu Buhari, the results of the most recent governorship elections in the states of Anambra, Osun, and Ekiti demonstrate his administration’s commitment to credible and free elections.
At a meeting with a team from Nasarawa led by the state’s governor, Abdullahi Sule, on Friday in the federal capital region, Buhari said (FCT).
According to the president, he wants to leave Nigerians “an irreversible political process” that will be “democratic and acceptable.”
Recent elections in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun are evidence of his administration’s unwavering dedication to fair elections in Nigeria, he claimed.
“I made sure to sign the new electoral statute for the same reason. The principles of the rule of law are something we will always uphold.
“On the subject of credible, free, and fair elections in the nation, I have consistently reassured my listeners both domestically and internationally that my personal desire and, in fact, the priority of this administration is to leave our country with an irreversible political process that continues to be both democratic and acceptable to the people.
“I hope for our country’s elections in 2023 to clearly signal the beginning of our electoral body’s institutional strength in conducting acceptable, credible, and peaceful elections.
“The next general elections will provide us the chance to persuade the people that continuity is necessary for our party to build on our accomplishments over the previous seven years.
In order to pave the way for increased socio-economic progress and development, the administration and people of Nasarawa state, as usual, have a significant role to play in bringing back our party to power in the 2023 elections. This is significant for the entire West African region, not just Nigeria.
