Road Crash Leaves 30 Dead Countless Others Hurt
In an accident involving two Toyota 18-seater buses, a Volkswagen Golf, and the Zaria-Kano Expressway on Thursday evening, thirty passengers perished.
Others were hurt in the mishap that happened at around 530 p.m. in the Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State close to Hawan Mai Mashi.
Abdurahman Yakasai, the Assistant Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in charge of the Zaria Zone, verified the accident and stated that excessive speeding and risky overtaking were to blame.
He claims that policemen and members of the Federal Road Safety Corps have transported the injured to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Shika Zaria, and that the deceased have also been evacuated and placed at the hospital morgue.
The car number plates had not yet been determined by the FRSC because they had been burned to ashes, according to the unit commander, who also stated that efforts were being made to get the manifest and information on the victims.
