Ten Police Officers Returning From Osun Election Duty Allegedly Kidnapped by Gunmen


Gunmen are alleged to have kidnapped ten Nasarawa State Police Command officers who were on their way home from poll duty in Osun.

On Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Obajana in Kogi, the officers were kidnapped, according to a source who communicated with The Guardian.

According to the source, “On July 17, 2022, at around 11:05 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Obajana reported hearing gunshots at New By-Pass Road, close to Trailer Park, PTI Obajana. The DPO dispatched police teams to the area right away, when they saw a white 18-seat passenger bus with the license plate GWA 295 YR being driven by Usman Abdullah and carrying six passengers.

“The seven individuals introduced themselves as Nasarawa State Police Command officers who had just returned from the Osun governorship election. They described how armed guys appeared out of the bushes as they were attempting to service their vehicle after it had a mechanical problem, abducting 10 officers.

According to reports, an anti-kidnapping squad had been sent to the region to find the offenders.
