Verify the facts! Did Yekini Amoda Ogunlere’s previous name Tinubu change?

A Facebook user named Jackson Ude stated that Tinubu’s primary and secondary school transcripts showed a different name in a post on the Nigeria Cycle page on Sunday.

On July 6, 2020, Nigeria Cycle was established under the name Edo Citizens Forum. On the 20th of the same month, it was changed to Bellview Org, then on August 22, 2020, it was changed again to Nigeria Cycle.

12,227 people follow the page, and it has 12,913 likes. A search of the www.nigerevent.com website on the page turned up no relevant results regarding the user’s identify or goals.

“Bola Tinubu’s real name is Yekini Amoda Ogunlere from Iragbiji Osun State,” the message continues. His primary and secondary school diplomas state as much, which is why he declined to present them to INEC.

The claim first became popular on nairaland in August 2014, according to Daily Trust, and is just now being recirculated.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s original name, according to his primary school transcript, is “Yekini Amoda Ogunlere” from the Iragbiji Osun state, claimed Twitter user @Officialmanny4. After being sought out for a drug-related crime in the 1970s in the US, he adopted the name Tinubu. He didn’t submit them (the certificates) to INEC because of this.

Remember that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed the personal information of 16 presidential candidates and their vice presidential running mates on Friday.

Tinubu did not include any information on his primary, secondary, or tertiary schooling, nor did he affix any certificates.
As an alternative, he included an affidavit with the INEC form in which he asserted that his credentials had been taken after he fled to exile under the late General Sani Abacha.

“I went into self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998,” the affidavit states. When I came back, I found that all of my belongings, including all of the papers pertaining to my credentials and my certifications in regard to paragraph three above, had been stolen by unidentified individuals.

“Since the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was forced to adjourn after the military overthrew the government on November 17, 1993, my house has been the object of several searches by different security agents.

“I presided over the Senate Committee on Banking and Finance and Appropriations. In 1993, I participated as a plaintiff in one of the two lawsuits brought against the temporary national government.

According to Tinubu, he fled into exile after realizing that his life was in danger.

However, the online encyclopedia Wikipedia failed to note any prior alterations to Tinubu’s name.

Tinubu’s failure to list the names of the schools he attended and provide copies of his diplomas has sparked outrage among Nigerians. This assertion is thought to have fueled claims that he either did not attend school as widely assumed or that he is concealing information about himself that could harm his chances in the upcoming election.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has always maintained that he is from Lagos State, and there is insufficient proof to back up the claim that he previously altered his name for any purpose.
