Wike and I would work to ensure the PDP wins says Ortom
Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, and Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, have both stated their commitment to working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the general elections in 2023.
However, Ortom noted that in order for the PDP to have a successful election season, Wike needs to be appeased by the party’s presidential candidate.
This was said by him on Thursday during an appearance on “The Morning Show” on Arise Television.
The governor suggested that the PDP leadership and the presidential candidate were still expected to approach Wike for a compromise while responding to the situation in the party following the selection of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate over Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
He said that Governor Wike must not be regarded as if he doesn’t matter because he was crucial to the party’s survival when others departed to join other political parties, adding that “the way to proceed is for the presidential candidate of the PDP to reach out to Wike.”
“Wike was essential to the PDP’s survival,” the governor claimed. He served as the anchor. He also played a key role in my decision to rejoin the PDP after I left the APC when it began dancing in the wrong direction. Wike and I are still dedicated to the PDP’s success at all levels. We can all work together for the party’s victory after Wike has been appeased.
“When questioned about plans to defect from the PDP by members of Governor Wike’s team. “Wike stood with us at the hardest times of our lives,” Ortom remarked. I dislike turning my back on people. Wike steadfastly stood behind us throughout the herdsmen attack on Benue and continues to do so.
